So Hard to Leave...So We Didn't!

We knew today was to be our last day but we just weren't quite ready to leave. As others in the group had to go-daughter #3 and her family on to Charleston and Christmas with her in-laws, son-in-law and 4 oldest grand daughters on to hike a bit of the Appalachian Trail, brother and sister-in-law off to Tybee and then home with their dog and daughter #2 home with her 3 dogs-daughter #1, hubby and I hung around for the day. We hadn't gone in to all of the shops we were eyeing nor had we done enough sitting in our favorite squares-so, today was the day for that!

We started off towards the downtown area and found so many cute, little shops. I bought myself the prettiest jewel tone necklace, Kris found bags and bags of antique silver Christmas decor 50% off at the Paris Market and, as we perused antique shops, we decided that we each "needed" a map of the original Savannah squares design as yet one more souvenir! As soon as I get it framed, I will share.

On our last square, who should we run into but daughter #3 and her family also having a hard time leaving and playing in "just one more park" before hitting the road.

It is so hard to pull ourselves away from the benches in the squares but we decided that since hubby and I had never eaten at "The Lady and Sons" in all of our visits, this trip was the one. We had reservations at 2 p.m. and lucky that we did because this place bustles! Their food was very good but not worth quite all the to-do in my opinion...but, having said that, I am so glad we went. It is a Savannah must!

After a long, large lunch, we walked off some of the calories by taking a long, leisurely walk to the hotel and our car and reluctantly, we had to head home.

Don't get me wrong. It is always nice to get home but this truly was a once in a lifetime trip. We are so grateful that our children would not take no for an answer and so humbled that everyone gave of their own vacations to spend time with us. It really was the best gift ever-a gift of time, family and love. What more could anyone ask for. Stay tuned.
