Day Trip #1

I love to take day trips this time of year. I am somehow drawn to small towns that revel in the season. I love seeing autumn decorations even if Mother Nature has forgotten to embrace Florida just yet with this beautiful time of the year.

We have a number of these trips planned but we started today by heading to "The Barn Antiques and Decor Shops" in Lake Alfred. We try to do this every year at this time. Since they sell so much seasonal and holiday decor, you can always guarantee lots of decorations. Even if you don't need any more "stuff"-and I don't-you can garner lots of ideas just by seeing how they have everything displayed.

My favorite building is "Seasons". This is their shop that is totally decked out for the season or holidays approaching. This time autumn, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas were featured but you can always find a corner for collegiate gear, baby gifts and kitchen items. "The Stable" features home decor of all sorts as well as beautiful clothing and jewelry.

And, of course, we must always fit in lunch at "The Backporch". You get to put your own "picnic basket" together as you choose from old favorites as well as daily specials. It is always fun!

Can't say we were exactly chilly but there was a beautiful breeze and with all of the seasonal decor, it feels like autumn may finally be on its way!

Off to babysit for a few hours. My skeleton is due tomorrow afternoon and I have been doing some "evil" plotting so stay tuned.
