Let's Eat!

Well, not exactly....but let's do enter the dining room. The hutch holds some of the dinner ware set I bought at Bealls ages ago. I found it after the holiday and got a really good deal so I bought all of the plates that they had. What you don't see here we actually use during this season. The large square platter came from Home Goods. The bean pot and casserole dish are from a well known company and hand made in Poland. I had never heard of them but wanted them for their stars and stripes. There happened to be a lady shopping next to me and she was grabbing up many pieces to add to her collection because apparently, these were at really good prices. I do use both of them for my 4th of July cooking and they are wonderful.

I still love this vintage looking star that my grand daughters and I made a few years back. It was inspired by a Bethany Lowe design and, once again, ours is quite a bit larger than the original.

More of my "bottle art". I have added a flag to the large bottle since taking this picture.

I always seen to add this little mercury glass finial to this vignette. I do it without thinking and have since realized that I think I do it because the shape reminds me of the torch that the Statue of Liberty holds. Guess it has something to do with subliminal decorating.

I left the niche rather simple this time. My plan had been to find 2 larger Uncle Sams but, so far, no luck.

So that's pretty much it for the dining room. Family room will be up next. I found a craft for this year and have been busy on it most of the last 2 days. It too is my interpretation of someone else's design but I love to craft myself and usually want different dimensions than the original so I don't feel bad copying their idea. And, after all, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Yeah, that's right. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Can't have anything to do with the fact that I have no artistic bent. I must see it first and then I can try my hand at my embellishments. In any case, stay tuned to see how they turn out. Also just came across a computer image program I bought for the 4th so my mind is starting to race. No telling where we'll wind up. Come back and see.
