UGH!!

I wish I knew what makes my spring decor so difficult for me. I love spring-it's my second favorite season. I LOVE spring flowers! I love spring weather. But, there is something about the combination of the usual colors of spring that I just don't care for when it comes to my decor. I don't know-maybe it is also the fact that the decor is all seasonal-there is really no holiday that I can use to amp things up.

All of that being said, I DID get myself going this morning and I got the living room, kitchen and family room done so far. I really was trying to get rid of the bright colors but I just don't have enough stuff to do that so I have to settle for doing that successfully in only the living room and I had to let the purples of pansies, lavender and irises sneak into the other places.

It is now 24 hours later and I am back...and, I am DONE...not only with the spring decor but with packing up and putting away all of the Easter! And, I spent a bit longer this time on changing a few things up.

As I said when I began this, I was really having trouble but, I think I successfully managed to get most of the "Eastery" spring colors out of the living room and tamed down a bit in the rest of the rooms. I pulled almost everything "pink" but went ahead and left the purples of pansies and lavender. I also cleared out things a bit-maybe that was why it was easier. In any case, I am done and will try to get some pictures in the next day or so. I did snag a picture of the living room wall where the new shelf hangs.

I ended up not using the bird in the frame there as I had planned-I love the color of the metal pitcher so much better. And, I didn't have anything large to hang in that big open space so I grabbed what I usually use in the kitchen hutch. Of course, that meant I had to scramble for something to use there so that caused all kinds of color changes but I'll show you that when I get there.

I am not swearing that this will not change because I am heading out to do some errands tomorrow and if I find a framed piece that I like better for here, all bets are off. Lol

I did love the way the framed bird picture looked but it just didn't have enough "presence"-the pitcher is larger and just balances it more for me. Now that I'm looking at it, I think I will pull those candles out as well. They're not on timers so I have to manually light them and I just don't go around and do that every night.

And, the floral arrangement may change as well. I just grabbed things I had to try to match the flowers in the print. Of course that may have to wait another week because I don't think flowers are on sale at HL this week and you know my thinking on that! Lol

And, I am excited for some new possibilities! My brother and sister-in-law brought my birthday gift when they came for Easter-they were out of town for my official day-and I can't wait to see what I can do with it.

The minute I opened it I knew I was in love with the shape of the base and it didn't take me long to figure out that something should hand from the metal rod. Apparently this company makes all kinds of holiday/seasonal things you can buy to hang but my sister-in-law said she thought I would have more fun making my own for each occasion-and she's right. I need some new craft ideas to get me excited. I think I have seen square filigree edged wood pieces that I think will be perfect and then I can go from there to decorate. That will definitely be on my list tomorrow as well. If I find them at HL, I hope they're on sale. LOL I can't wait to show you what I come up with starting with spring!

So that is it for me today. I've been out moving the sprinkler all day as well since my irrigation system is down so I am beat. Time to sit down and put my feet up. I really should be cooking because my son-in-law brought me more food including mahi mahi and tilapia but they will just have to wait. He also brought me a big bowlful of  homemade lima beans that he does up with veggies and pork. I don't eat the pork but I love the rest of it. Since that's made and ready to go, I think that will be dinner tonight.

I'll be back. Until then stay safe and stay tuned.
