Sometimes a Plan Works

 Sometimes I surprise myself with just how much "useless" knowledge I have in my brain. When I posted yesterday, I showed you the present my brother and sister-in-law gave me for my birthday and I mentioned how excited I was to try to come up with different "hangers" for the different decor themes that I use. And, somewhere in the recesses of my brain I thought I remembered seeing laser cut shapes that I thought would be the perfect size and fit for the hanger...and, I thought it may have been at $Tree. And so, I started my errands there today and, sure enough, there they were. I grabbed all three different designs-I think I can expand the circular one with some pine for a Christmas wreath-and I also grabbed three of the solid frames. I think I can fill in the photo area and use the whole size of the wood to maybe either paint a design or decoupage a napkin or image. In any case, I am excited to get my creative juices flowing on these. I was going to spend my weekend working in the yard but now I'm thinking I might be trying at least my spring one tomorrow.

And then I happened upon this idea somewhere:

This one was done on a circular piece of wood but they did the same on a rectangular pallet and I am just intrigued with it. I am going to try something similar in different colors and we'll see what we get. I grabbed a few things in the $Tree to get me started. I'm mad at myself that I forgot to look at HL for a bird-I know they have them so I guess I'll be heading back that way soon. Ugh!

And then I did find something I like for my living room. It isn't perfect but the books are the right color and there is a bird that looks just like the bird I have sitting on the sconce with the candle. It was only $20 and then 50% off so I felt like I wasn't going out too far on a limb if it wasn't completely perfect. I actually thought about touching some of it up with acrylic paint so we shall see but I like it as is too.

And, I just realized that the picture has a pitcher as well. Guess it was meant to be! Lol

I've got a few little "spring" finishing touches to do and then I will be ready for pictures. It's Fri-YAY so time to call it a day-after I make some Ina Garten fresh corn salad with all of the ears of corn my son-in-law brought. I'll be eating on all of that food for a long time.
