I was supposed to start taking down Easter today and begin to put out my spring decor but, that did not happen. My grand dogs didn't get picked up until late morning and, it is not an easy task to do this kind of taking down and putting up with them here. They literally stick to me like Velcro every time I move and there is a lot of moving and in and out of the garage or other rooms when this swap is happening. I won't say I can't do it but I will say it is a lot easier if I don't have to. Lol
So, when my son-in-law arrived to pick them up, he came LOADED with 8-9 grocery bags stuffed to the brim. He said he knew I hadn't been out to the store while the dogs were here and didn't want me to have to run out right away so he thought he would fill the cupboard for a bit. He actually filled it so much that I'm not even sure I will be able to eat or cook all of this before it goes bad-definitely going to have to make some things and get them in the freezer.
We sat and talked for a bit and then when he left, I grabbed a quick lunch and then set out to cut up LOTS of the veggies to get them roasting. And, by the time I was done with that, I just didn't have it in me to start the swap-I will save that and begin early tomorrow morning.
Instead, I started looking at past spring decor and realized that I had forgotten to think about something for the two sides of the living room shelf as this is the first time it will be here for spring decor. I kind of thought I would need a trip to HL but then decided to see what I could pull off with what I have and, of course, the peat pots came back to mind. I thought of filling them just with flowers and maybe decoupaging a bird on the fronts. Then I thought about not using the pots and making a nest on top of some small candle holders that I have. Unfortunately I don't have any birds I could add to the nest so meant a trip to HL again until I thought of maybe printing a bird. And, when I went to look for free images of birds to download I happened upon these:
I was drawn to them right away because they face in opposite directions and that is what I like for the shelf. And so, I changed their size and printed them up.
