Spring, Spring, Beautiful Spring

I was supposed to start taking down Easter today and begin to put out my spring decor but, that did not happen. My grand dogs didn't get picked up until late morning and, it is not an easy task to do this kind of taking down and putting up with them here. They literally stick to me like Velcro every time I move and there is a lot of moving and in and out of the garage or other rooms when this swap is happening. I won't say I can't do it but I will say it is a lot easier if I don't have to. Lol

So, when my son-in-law arrived to pick them up, he came LOADED with 8-9 grocery bags stuffed to the brim. He said he knew I hadn't been out to the store while the dogs were here and didn't want me to have to run out right away so he thought he would fill the cupboard for a bit. He actually filled it so much that I'm not even sure I will be able to eat or cook all of this before it goes bad-definitely going to have to make some things and get them in the freezer.

We sat and talked for a bit and then when he left, I grabbed a quick lunch and then set out to cut up LOTS of the veggies to get them roasting. And, by the time I was done with that, I just didn't have it in me to start the swap-I will save that and begin early tomorrow morning.

Instead, I started looking at past spring decor and realized that I had forgotten to think about something for the two sides of the living room shelf as this is the first time it will be here for spring decor. I kind of thought I would need a trip to HL but then decided to see what I could pull off with what I have and, of course, the peat pots came back to mind. I thought of filling them just with flowers and maybe decoupaging a bird on the fronts. Then I thought about not using the pots and making a nest on top of some small candle holders that I have. Unfortunately I don't have any birds I could add to the nest so meant a trip to HL again until I thought of maybe printing a bird. And, when I went to look for free images of birds to download I happened upon these:

I was drawn to them right away because they face in opposite directions and that is what I like for the shelf. And so, I changed their size and printed them up.

At this point I decided to maybe try the bird in the frame in the center of the shelf so I wanted to paint the pots a color close to what is on the framed image.

Then my mind went to flowers and other embellishments when I remembered a Rubbermaid with lots of spring things that I haven't used in many years and it included some excelsior that I used to use as nests-it even had a few small twigs still entwined with it. So, I shaped two nests real fast to see what I thought and I think I like it. I don't want to over think it. Right now I just have the birds propped in the nests-if I decide this is how I will go I will have to come back and make all of this a lot more permanent. But for now, I think I've got it...and I am beat.

I love keeping my grand dogs but I get even less sleep than I normally do when they're here because I'm constantly taking them out or checking where they are if they've left the bed or the bedroom. And so, I am going to season up the veggies and get them tossed in the fancy olive oil my SIL also brought and get them going. Then I am going to put my feet up and call it a day.

I suspect these will look pretty close to what you are seeing now when I put them into the shelf but if any other idea comes along the pike, you'll be the first to know. Lol

I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter. Ours was simple and lovely. I took one picture before we sat down and then never thought of another until my only grand child that was there came to get a picture of us. Times have definitely changed but the love around the table-no matter how many are there-doesn't. Stay safe and stay tuned.
