Now The Fun Really Begins!!!!

O.K. This is turning out to be a pretty long post-by virtue of all of the pictures if nothing else. Why don't you pour a hot cup of coffee or cider and come along for the ride. I will try to only comment on the changes in decor.

So this is what the foyer of our house looks like this year. Since I got the new mirror and moved in this table, I decided to make it my "witch" area. I already had most of these things-just used them in a new way. It all kind of started with a vignette I had pinned that had the most marvelous orange chair-very similar to this chair-with the saying painted across the back slat. I had been on the look out for a cheap chair to paint, but luckily, I did not find one. Who needs another Halloween something as large as a chair to store-and that wouldn't even fit under any bed.

In any case, I decided to just print out the saying, frame it and hang it on the chair I already own. Added one of my favorite pillows (no comments from any family members who may be reading this) and some boas if I feel like dressing up. Usually this is where all of the witch hats hang, but no room this year so I am keeping them close by and when the kids come, I will bring them out for our traditional pictures.

I hung the garland I got last year from Grandin Road across the the top of the mirror, added the antique bead trim from Bethany Lowe and pictures I downloaded of my witch family. My plan had been to frame them, but there just wasn't room so I adapted my idea and I am O.K. with it.

A spell book, some potions and a candle for late night work and this area is complete.

Halloween wire branches from PB hung with Halloween cones, postcards and Bingo cards surrounded by family costume party pictures.

Since my new "Poe" vignette didn't leave room for my bird cage, I set it on a metal stand and moved it next to the corner cupboard. I think I like it like this-actually gives it more of a presence.

And now for my new vignette. Have I told you how much I love my typewriter (thanks again Kris) ? I simply printed out the word "Nevermore" and inserted it into the typewriter carriage-see how old I am? I know that that thing is called a carriage! But, I digress. I propped the candleabra on a few books, printed the poem on the chalkboard, added Poe's picture and the raven box I made this year and voila'-I love it!

So that gets you through the living room. Can't wait to come back and show you more. Stay tuned.

  1. Wow!! It looks really great!! I am so jealous. My house is a Halloween mess right now. At the rate I am going, it will take me until Thanksgiving to get it all up!
