Another one of "those" days...and, no, I don't meant HOT although it IS!!! I mean a fun day where I finally have all of "spring" put away, all of the 4th out and, I have a chance to look around and see what needs a bit of love. I have already moved a few things around on shelves that didn't look quite balanced to me and, I've been outside painting more pool furniture and trimming back my much overgrown sky vine on the pergola near my house. When that thing takes off growing, it is like the beanstalk. I used to go up the ladder to trim the top but, even on the very top step of the ladder I can no longer reach all the way over to trim the unsightly growth so I do what I can around the bottom and sides and just don't look up too high. Lol And, note to self: time to pressure clean the brick paths!!
And then, as I was coming to get ready to visit with you, I happened upon this image on Pinterest and that set my brain in motion.
I thought it would look right at home with the things in my dough bowl or perhaps in another vignette so I resized and printed it and I'm ready to go with that a bit later.
I had another book where I had already removed the cover so I thought it would work perfectly.
And, as I was walking around I decided that some of the small flags that I have stuck in things would probably benefit from a bit of a tone-down and maybe some hot glue to hold down the flag to cover the unsightly staples so I've got a "staining" station and a "gluing" station set up and ready to go between the other things that I'm doing.
But, I actually came here to share a bit more of my 4th of July decor so why don't we catch a glimpse of the porch while we're here.
Lowes once again had the pots of red, white and blue vincas so I grabbed one and then just got some red and white pentas and more vincas and mixed up a few pots. I left the two urns full of blue daze for my "blue". I like to be careful what I buy for the porch because once a plant's color is done for a "theme", I usually take them and plant them in the terraced garden by the pool. And believe me, after this year's winter loss of plants there, anything that I can put down and have survive will be happily accepted.
I'm off for some lunch and then I'll be back to show you how the day has gone.
Almost time to call it a day but I'm back to show you my Uncle Sam Song Book. It was so simple that it is almost embarrassing to show you but I distressed the edge and sides of pages with walnut ink, ModPodged on the image, distressed the edges of the cover and added it to my dough bowl. I was jumping back and forth amongst several projects so I only took the one photo but it's kind of a no-brainer. Lol
So, that's it for today. I got all of the little things done that I had hoped for...even got a fair amount of raking done before the very welcome rains started. We have had a bit if thunder and lightening but mostly just lots of heavy rain which we really need so no complaints from me.
Not sure what the rest if the week holds but I'll be back soon. Stay safe and stay tuned.
