My Brain Hurts

Today is Saturday-two days to go before St. Patrick's Day...and three to go before I will start making my decor switch. And, of course, that means my mind has started to wander to my next decor. I think I have told you before that I am not happy with my family room decor for Easter. Somehow it has gone to "carrots". I have nothing against carrots and I love the color orange but, for whatever reason, I am not a fan of this room at this time of year.

If truth be told, I'm not all that much a fan of the rest of the house either. I love Easter and all that it means. I love bunnies and spring flowers and all of the things. There is just something about my decor that doesn't excite me. It might be because there is a lot of pastels...and if you know me, you probably know I'm not a big pastel girl.

It seems like a no-brainer to hit the ground running and just change everything up but that is really a much larger project than I seem to be into these days-especially if it would involve buying more "stuff". I have enough "stuff" already. Lol

And so I pulled up last year's pictures and started thinking what I might be able to do in just three days time. The family room went the way of carrots when I made this guy:

I still love him. And then, I have the pallet art that I made in the green color and added these bunnies that I found at HL.

I love the sign and the bunnies but, they don't lend themselves to the pastel Easter colors in the rest of the house either so I jumped on the carrot band wagon.

I made every carrot craft I could think of...and, when I look at them like this they are OK but when I am in that room in person, not so much. And so I tried to come up with an answer. At first I thought about moving every brown bunny everywhere else in the house to this room in hopes of weeding out some of the carrots. But, after looking back at the pictures I see where many of them also have eggs that are pastel in color and just won't work. My brain was starting to hurt when I sat back down in my office and looked at the new things I have made this year to add to the mix. Most of them incorporate the antique gold in some way and my intention had been to use them in the living room. But then I realized that if I used them in the family room, they would fit in very well and in the end, tone down the orange. I don't think it's the carrots so much as the color that is jarring my brain.

And so, right now, that is the plan. And, as luck would have it, I have a package arriving on Tuesday-my first day of decorating-that is my Easter gift to myself. I bought a "gentleman" bunny from Decor Steals. He is bronze and very stately looking-not at all Easter bunny-ish but still speaking to the holiday. Not sure where he will go in there just yet but I think I am starting to see the room come together a bit. Now to think about the rest of the house. Oy! My brain hurts. I don't like change. Lol

Decor steals shows this guy with some flowers in his bowl which I like. But, in the family room, the flowers would need to be orange and that would read autumn to me so anybody want to bet whether he ends up with a bowl of carrots or not? Lol

I'm off to make some lunch and sit down and watch my grandson's college lacrosse game. They've been on a winning streak so we'll see how today goes. If I get anymore brilliant ideas, I'll be back to share but until then, stay safe and stay tuned.
