Last of the To-Dos!

I think I have finally finished all of the things on the to-do list that needed to get accomplished before I could head off. I never quite realize just how many plants I have indoors and outdoors that need almost daily watering until I am going to be gone for any length of time. This time it is going to be almost 10 days...and, daughter #3 who usually does this task for me is going to be with us, so I did some fast thinking. All of the indoor plants are now in the tub and getting a good soaking and a bit of water for them to sit in. The outdoor plants have all been moved so that they will get at least the twice weekly irrigation water. The fountains have been turned off so that they don't run dry and burn out their pumps. Garbage is out. Dish washer is on. Clothes are almost all packed...I'm just a bit undecided on how heavy a coat I will need. And then once I have decided, I will need to get the dust off of it because it hasn't been used in years!

With all of that now under control, I am going to show you the last of the Halloween home tour for this year so that when I return I can share trip photos and Halloween night festivities!

Let's catch the family room first.

 

I'm still happy that I switched the mantle over to the witches. I like them here along with the broom and boots.

Let's head into the bathrooms and then a bit of the overflow that I put in my bedroom this year...it's all about the photos! Lol

In just a little while the family room will look like this. I am going to enjoy the sights and scents of this room one more time because when I get home, it will almost be time to switch to Thanksgiving. I can never believe just how quickly my favorite month of the year seems to go! I'll be MIA for a bit but I will have much to share when I return. Stay safe and stay tuned.

 

 

 

Better Hurry!

I am heading off for a road trip and just realized that by the time I am home, Halloween will be staring us straight in the face...and so, I thought while I had a minute, I might better show you another room of our Halloween home tour. Let's head to the dining room.

I always love how those little spiders hanging from the chandelier cast such large shadows on the wall.

My oldest daughter always wished we had more vintage family photos...lol.

Since the sunroom really doesn't have all of that much, I think I had better throw it in today as well if I am going to have a chance to get this tour completed in time.

I Love Autumn

 Wow! What a weekend of family and fun!!! Almost the entire family made it to town...we sure missed grand daughter #1...and once everyone arrived safely, the fun began and didn't stop until Sunday evening.

We started with our tailgate on Friday night. We do this every home game but this week was a "biggie" because it was homecoming. Daughter #3 and her husband really outdid them selves and had a whopper of a tailgate with the most incredible spread of food. I think almost everyone in the area stopped by and we probably could have fed everyone in the stands as well.

The Celtics are on a roll and had another great win!

We had an unbelievable night but it wasn't over yet. A bunch of the gang came back to my house for the evening and we managed to squeeze in a bit more fun before heading to bed so we would be ready for the next day!

Saturday morning came fast and we got ready to watch the Gator game before heading off to MCYFL where the Wildcats handily defeated the Cougars and, I must admit, grandson #2 was the star of the game. On the second play he ran over 80 yards for their first touchdown and then continued to throw and run for almost all of their other scores. He was really proud of himself and this was just the boost that this team needed!

While we were at the game with Hud, his mom and sister were off with Harrison taking homecoming dance photos. This was definitely one of those weekends where it would have helped to be able to be in two places at the same time. Lol

After celebratory dinners, we managed to sneak in yet one more viewing of Hocus Pocus so the girls felt like they got a bit of Halloween at Nana's.

Sunday morning we were all off to Gainesville to help my brother and sister-in-law take down a large brick planter and all that was in and around it. It was quite a job and I was very thankful for so many other younger, stronger bodies. The bricks got demoed and moved, the ground got leveled and the posts for a large pergola got erected. They still have a lot more work to do but hopefully it will be done and we will all be enjoying it come Thanksgiving!

Now the house is quiet again and I am catching up on some things around here before starting to get ready for a road trip with daughters # 1 and 3 and grand daughter #2. I love autumn....always such a busy time of year! Stay safe and stay tuned.
 

"Whew!!!"

When I last posted, I mentioned that I was looking forward to a very busy number of days. We had our usual Friday Night Lights with a trip to Wildwood to take on the undefeated  Wildcats. On the way, we stopped at a food truck gathering and had a wonderful dinner.

The game reminded me of one of my high school games...oh so many years ago. Wildwood only has one high school and the football game of the week is a big deal. They have a fairly large stadium and the place was packed!! It was a great game and we ended up winning so it was even sweeter indeed!

The next day, daughter #2 arrived and we were off to the MYCFL game of the week where we met up with the rest of the family. We weren't as lucky in this game but grandson #2 played really well and his head coach (my son-in-law) dad was happy with the team.

Once we were done with football...well, not really because we still had the Gator game to watch...we headed to my house. The kids wanted to squeeze in a LITTLE "Halloween at Nana's weekend". We all knew that there wouldn't be time for all of the traditional cooking, baking, crafting, etc. that usually accompanies one of these weekends, but no one seemed to care. And so, we started with our traditional witch pictures. We have been doing this for many, many years. In fact, I think I have a picture where grandson #2 is hugging the mummy and not quite as tall as it is. Lol

By the time we got to dinner, it was dark and everyone was hungry so, we gave a half-hearted nod to a spooky pizza...maybe a jack-o-lantern, Scream character, ghost...whatever. And, we got a salad made that at least had spooky shaped cheese. When the kids get to this age, I don't think they really care what their food looks like...they just want to eat. Lol

We did get to see the Gator game and even Hocus Pocus-a bit of a tradition- before we were all exhausted and headed to bed!

The next morning I made a breakfast of orange pancakes with black syrup and whipped cream ghosts, bacon and fruit.

I had to make sure their bellies were full because then they went outside with me and helped me get a few things done.

I have had some other company of late...Cox Cable has been here on and off for two weeks (I think my house is jinxed), the pool guy has had several repairs to tackle and yesterday and today, the garage door repair company has been here putting in a new unit. That's the kind of "company" I could do without but, an old friend was here for the day yesterday as well and we got to go out for lunch. I always love her visits!

And so today, I am trying to get lots of little odds and ends caught up before the entire family hits town on Friday. We have so many more fun things on the docket so I might be missing in action a bit, but I'll be back. Stay safe and stay tuned.
