So Much Fun!

Even though it wasn't out traditional way to celebrate the day, we had a wonderful time. We missed Hannah (who had to work-but earned double time) and daughter #1 and her family (our son-in-law is in preparation for a big trial-he is the attorney not the defendant-ha-ha), but had such a wonderful day with everyone who came by.

And, even though we didn't get to see the fireworks from Kris' pool deck, we did get to see them from our own yard. We haven't been in town for many years, so I guess I haven't realized how many of our neighbors shoot off fireworks-not the kind we used to do but the REAL things. I thought they were illegal, but never-the-less, they were fabulous going off all around us!

We had one or two rain showers, but they seemed to come at just the right times and truly never put a damper on any part of our day. We got to fit in all of the obligatory 4th of July things-eating, swimming, eating, making ice-cream, playing games, seeing fireworks and, did I say eating?

Lugging all of the ice-cream fixings to the gazebo.

A girl must always be ready for her photo ops.

Everyone took turns adding to the mix. First comes the cream-we don't like real creamy ice cream in our house, so we use half and half and it comes out more like "snow" ice cream.

Next comes the sugar.

Then you stir and stir and stir.

Gotta love that face.

So glad to finally have hubby out in the fresh air to get some sun after 3 1/2 long weeks of re-hab.

Morgan served as my photographer for most of the day, so she had to get in the obligatory self-portrait!

Always need a quality control test!

A second opinion can never hurt!

Morgan taking a dip.

Sons-in-law putting together hubby's birthday present so we can eat. Poor Todd had to buy all of the meat, build the grill and then cook it all. I really do have a wonderful family!

It was a truly wonderful, relaxing day and so nice to be able to be back to doing and planning. I am going to give hubs this weekend to continue to "relax" and then once he is discharged from the surgeon next week-which we are counting on-he will be able to hop in his car and drive himself. We are going to continue our pattern of catching up on old movies for a few more days-I have seen more movies in the last 3 1/2 weeks than I have in the last 10 years-but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Of course, that means that 4th decorations will be up a few more days and then I will be breaking out the late summer vignettes-which always includes lots of sunflowers and citrus colors-can't wait! Stay tuned.
