Easter is a week from today so we had better get this show on the road. Let's head into the family room and see if you can spot the changes. This is the room that has had an overload of orange-actually, not just orange but CARROTS. Almost everyone who knows me probably knows that next to green, orange is my favorite color. And, ever since I made the Easter pallet art and found the bunnies to go with it on the mantle, orange/carrots just seemed to be in order.
That being said, there were so many carrot crafts out there in blogland and I think I made every one of them. And it was OK...until it wasn't.
As I looked back over the family room decor for the last few years, the orange/carrots just stood out...way more than I had ever intended. And so, this year, I was determined to make a change. I think my coffee colored tulips definitely helped. They read as orange but so much more muted. And, I just gathered up a lot of the things I made and put them in a basket to pass along to anyone who might want them. I did keep a carrot or two-come along and see what made the cut. Lol
This guy was almost gone but, in the end, I just couldn't. He was fun to make and I still like looking at him.
I kept the old carrot crate because it is so faded and I gave in to a few carrots in the brick mold box.
This is probably the last you will see of the sign. I have actually removed it and replaced it several times. This side of the unit needed some orange so it is still here but, next year I will probably move the brick mold over to this side for my "color balance" and the sign will have to find a new home. Lol
This bunny was a gift last year and came as a VERY LIGHT gold-almost a yellow-so, he got a touch of antique gold Rub n' Buff to fit in better. And, may I say yet again how much I love those coffee tulips! They have still not been restocked but, as soon as they are, several more bundles will be headed to my house!
These are the rabbits that started the whole fiasco in this room. Up until then, I was doing the same lavender/green/pink theme that was in the rest of the house. When I made the pallet sign, those colors would have still worked but, once I found these rabbits, I knew I needed to go to the orange/carrot side of things. Oh how much easier my life would have been if I just took away the rabbits. Lol But, once they were here, I couldn't bring myself to also use pastels in this room and so it began!
A few more bunny pictures found their way here.
I gave in to this pillow on the couch because it only has a hint of orange where I painted the carrot back when I first bought it.
So that is the family room for this year. At this late date, it is probably not going to change but you never know with me. I just came across two other decor pieces that I had forgotten about that went into other rooms this morning so...you never know. We just have a wee bit more so I am hoping to get back tomorrow before heading off for two more lacrosse games. It doesn't happen often but I love it when both boys and girls lacrosse play on the same day at the same field-especially if it's our home field. Go Celtics. Stay safe and stay tuned.
