Since I have my grand dog here for quite awhile, I do tend to stay closer to home than I might normally do. The one that is here now doesn't usually get into the same kind of trouble as some of the others-like eating anything that isn't tied down-and I don't mean food. Lol But, I still don't like to leave him alone if I don't have to so I am finding myself looking ahead to Halloween and seeing if there might be some other crafts I would like to do. I kind of have my vintage Halloween decor scattered throughout the house but I am thinking that maybe this year I will try to concentrate most of it in the family room. And that took me to the two vintage yard signs I grabbed at the $Tree the other day.
I knew I wasn't going to use them as yard signs so the first thing was to pop off the stakes. Usually this isn't an issue because these things are seldom made well. I started with the cat and it actually gave me more resistance than I was expecting. I used my trusty putty knife and hammer and usually they come right apart but I did have to fight with that cat. If you look closely, you can see the difference in the amount of glue used between the two-the pumpkin popped right off!

Once I had them like this I began thinking about how I might use them. There really are lots of options and usually I will make something and then just walk around and see where it might work-or, better yet, know where I plan to use it before I even begin. This time it would be very helpful if I knew because I found an old Valentine sign from $Tree that will be the perfect size to do one of my ideas but, I only have one. That will be fine if I just want to do one but, because I just seem to picture these guys together-I think because I can remember my mom hanging cardboard figures of these exact images in our front windows as Halloween decor way back when I was a child-so I'm thinking I need two fairly similar. I do have some foam core that I could use to cut some circles but I would rather use the wood. Decisions, decisions!?!

I'm off to take Bennett out for a bit. This dog sheds like no other I have ever seen-and I've had and seen lots of shedding dogs-so, I'm going to give him a workout and then a good combing before I catch some lunch. After that I think I will come back to this and see what I decide. Maybe I'll even go back over last year's Halloween decor pix one more time to see where I might use these. I'll let you know. Luckily I have TONS of Halloween craft supplies so once I make up my mind which way I'm going I should be able to start. Stay safe and stay tuned.
Look at the "rough" life this one is having. His biggest decision of the day is where to lay next. Lol
