Any Excuse!

By the time all of the family left yesterday, it was too late to start my swap so, today IS the day...even if I may not be able to continue tomorrow because I have a few errands that I HAVE to run. Never-the-less, I started this morning. And, truth be told, I have been at it for almost four hours and literally JUST finished one room-albeit the living room so it is one of the larger areas to decorate.

This is one of the largest swaps-both ways. Not only when I am bringing in all of the red, white and blue but also as it ALL goes out. Not much of anything stays and, because this swap happens in the midst of our summer temperatures, I am already exhausted and in need of a break before forging ahead.

And so, here I am. Let's start with a quick recap of my 4th of July holiday-which turned into so much more fun than I was expecting. I knew daughter #1 would be here to pick up her dog after returning from Europe. I wasn't sure if grand daughter #4 would come as well, but she did and then my brother and sister-in-law surprised us with a visit. We got to have a nice dinner from one of our favorite local restaurants and hear all about their vacation. That was Thursday.

Then, on Friday, anyone still in town was welcome to come to my house for a very laid back celebration-NOTHING like we used to do but, since there are no more little ones, the need for sparklers and fireworks doesn't seem as important-although, because our 4th was kind of rainy, I guess my backyard neighbor held off his celebration until last night and I literally got to watch a firework display out my bedroom window. Lol

In any case, daughter #3 and her hubby joined us as well as having a drop by visit from grand daughter #5 before she and her boyfriend headed off to a gathering out at the lake.

I only grabbed a few shots before the kids left but, the rest of us enjoyed a wonderful lunch and then ended the afternoon with almost four hours of gin rummy. It was definitely nowhere near the celebrations we used to have but equally as much fun-except we were missing everyone who couldn't be here.

And now for some truth in advertising-or at least in decorating. Lol Here is the start of the sunflower decor in the living room but just the start of what all has to be put away before even one room is done...and the reason I am using for a break before I get back to it!

So that is it for today...and probably for the next few days unless I find some wonderful treasures while I'm out and about tomorrow and just have to share. Stay safe and stay tuned.
