Running Behind!

When last I left you, I told you that my Tuesday was pretty much shot with appointments so I would start my 4th of July decorating on Wednesday. And, I was true to my word. I got started pretty early and was nearing the end of the living room when the FedEx truck pulled up. Daughters #1 and 3 gifted me a new living room rug for Christmas. I have been wanting a new one and this would give these two designers a chance to get in a rug that they consider the correct size for my room. Lol

Fast forward to now and it has kind of taken this long to find one that I like and that they also think will work. And now it was here. Daughter #3 had told me to call her sons-my grandsons-when it arrived and they could find a time to come help me with it but, when I took it from the delivery guy I decided it wasn't all that heavy and I had not yet decorated my coffee table so there was no time like the present. And so, I moved the coffee table out of the way. I will say that on hind sight, I "might" have waited for help with that because not only is the wrought iron base heavy but the glass HAS TO weigh at least 1000 pounds...and it is hard to grasp as well. I ended up laying it flat on the floor because everywhere I tried leaning it, it kept slipping and the last thing I wanted was that huge chunk of glass to break.

The rug was nicely rolled on a very strong tube and was actually very easy to roll out. About now I was feeling pretty proud of myself! I was able to lift the sofa and pull the rug under what I thought was the correct amount so that the rug ended up close to the front of the two chairs across the room.

At this point I sent my girls photos thinking they would want to hire me right away for my incredible design "eye". I don't think my phone has ever had a turnaround as quickly as I got from this one. Not one but both daughters responded with a resounding "NO"-the rug had to be further under the couch.

What I haven't told you yet is the saga of me getting that coffee table back onto the rug. I was able to lift and move the base fairly easily although it was heavy and my back is still reminding me of that. But, the glass-which was now flat on the wood floor-had to be lifted...and, no matter how hard I tried, I could NOT get my fingers under it. It just kept sliding around. And so, I grabbed a heavy metal bench scraper from my kitchen and was able to get it under the glass and lift it just enough to get my fingers under there...and then my fingers were stuck between the floor and the glass and I couldn't move again. At this point I actually just burst out laughing because it was funny enough to be a skit on the old Carol Burnett Show.

Eventually I got the glass lifted and somehow managed to get it up onto that base. So, when the girls said move the rug, I really wasn't happy but I trust their advice so I lifted the couch and tried to pull the rug again but this time, nothing was moving. And this is where I decided to call in the calvary-who arrived the next morning to help their old Nana out.

I had figured it would take all three of us to lift the coffee table and couch and pull the rug-and of course I assumed I would have to take all of the 4th decor off of it first but, as one grandson went to install my cameras, the other went into the living room, lifted the couch and pulled that rug-table and all. And, in the blink of an eye it was under the couch about a 1/3 of the depth of the couch which is what google told me was correct. And, once again, I thought it looked great!

The boys were here a good bit of the day and then I got back to decorating. So that was day 2. Today marks day 3 and I am finally finished with the decorating but haven't packed the first of the spring stuff away so, give me one more day and I should be ready to start sharing.

Of course, the story doesn't end there. When I sent the girls the updated photo their response was again "NO". Apparently it STILL needs to go under more! When I told them that is what google said, daughter #3 said "google lied". LOL Of course, there will be no moving until more help arrives. She thinks she can fix it the next time she comes over. I just know I am not moving that coffee table again. That table and I now have a love/hate relationship. I will live with this for now.

So that is what's been happening around here. I'll be back soon. Until then stay safe and stay tuned. And you got a tiny peek at my 4th decor.
