Bring On the Fireworks!

So, I couldn't wait to get back to the sunroom this morning and see what I could come up with. I got a surprise last night while talking to daughter #1 on the phone when my son-in-law and my two grand dogs appeared at the side door. Apparently I was talking so much I didn't hear them at the front door but, in my defense, I didn't know they were coming last night until I hung up the phone and saw two missed text messages asking me if they could come early. Lol

In any case, here I am with both of them laying in the sun at my feet. I really enjoy having them here. It gives me a good excuse why I shouldn't do any heavy cleaning and I can spend my day crafting. Lol

I can't believe how excited I was to tackle these vintage ephemera peat cups. I'm not swearing that they won't get changed up a bit because I haven't seen what HL has out for the 4th this year. It should go on sale next week after the Easter stuff is gone so I shall see what there is and if there is anything else I would rather use but these things read vintage to me and I am happy with them-maybe if I can find some blue pip berries I can add that?!

In any case, I backed the little images that I found in my stash with a thin blue border and distressed two little "cupcake topper" flags. Then I painted some skewers and cut some blue tissue to cover the floral foam that I trimmed and inserted into the pots.

After that it was just a matter of gluing on the skewers, twisting up some pip berries and filling the pots. And, they turned out just as I had envisioned. I can't wait for my grand daughters to see the "people" revisiting again and see what they have to say. Lol

I'm off to take the dogs out for a few minutes to burn off some energy and then I'll have lunch. I was surprised by the nicest phone call from grandson #1 a few minutes ago. He hasn't been home for awhile so it was good to hear his voice and catch up a bit on his busy life. His family is in the air as I write on their way to meet him in Boston for his lacrosse game tomorrow and then to spend Easter with him. And, he told me he will be home on May 9 for a few weeks before he heads off to his summer Coast Guard assignment...and then his junior year at the Academy. I can't believe how quickly time flies-my last two grands will be a senior and a junior in high school and then my life will definitely slow down-their crazy schedules keep me busy and I enjoy all of their activities. Maybe by then I will be a great Nana?? No news on the horizon on that matter just yet but you never know what can happen in a few years. Lol Stay safe and stay tuned.
